How Capital Credits Work

  1. South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative (SCAEC) tracks each member’s energy usage and payments throughout the year
  2. SCAEC allocates the margins to members as capital credits based on their electricity use during the year
  3. SCAEC notifies members of how and when they will receive their capital credit
  4. At the end of the year, SCAEC completes a financial analysis and determines the amount of excess revenues, called margins
  5. When the co-op’s financial condition permits, the SCAEC board elects to retire or pay the capital credits
